Catch Up

I absolutely hate uploading pictures. It's the worst. You spend all your time selecting pictures and then wait five minutes for them to upload and then you get an error screen because your pictures are too big. So that is why we never have frequent blogs--I just wait until Ryan does it, and then I go through and edit his comments. But, I have been put to shame many, many times by my sisters-in-law, so I thought I'd post something before I really have a reason to be too busy.



So Scott got a Lightning McQueen helmet for his birthday (credit Amy) and he and Kylie just love to put it on. So far it doesn't stay on very long, but they think it's pretty awesome all the same. Scott was still in his nudy potty training stage, so we won't share the other pictures of him with the helmet.





Scott was helping me cook dinner and got a bad burn on his arm from a pan on the stove. So I sent him outside with the flour (after running cool water over his wound) to try out that internet rumor. I don't know if it worked or not, but he and Kylie sure had a great time. You can also tell that Kylie is tall and slender by the way her onsie is sliding off her shoulder. She was wearing the same onsie when we were at Lowes and she accidentally banged her mouth on the cart. So she had a bloody shirt, hanging off the shoulder with, I believe, left over chocolate stains from dessert. She looked so sad and white trash all at the same time. We'll have to make a greater effort with her public appearance in the future.






So this was Scott's 3rd birthday party in our front yard. We had a pool with a slide, a slip n' slide (that someone else brought without being asked--which was great because it was the big hit), a few toys and lots of rain. A 30% chance was an 100% when the kids were outside. Which, to be honest, the kids were as wet as they were going to get so they didn't care, but some of the parents weren't loving standing there in the rain. So we came inside and toweled off, had cake (costco deliciousness) and ice cream, and then we had presents. I knelt down and helped Scott open his presents. I think he got to open one or two before all of the other kids mobbed us and ripped those packages open! I almost feared for my life. It was a little crazy. We invited all of the kids in nursery (17-20) and I think next time we're going to max out at 5 little friends. He had a great time though.





Here are a few pictures of the damage up the street from us when Hurricane Irene came through. Two trees knocked down the lines and pole and we didn't have power for 5 days. We did pretty well as far as cooking and having light, but we didn't do so well in refrigeration. We stocked up on milk eggs and cheese, and then were afraid of losing it the whole time. Luckily a wonderful family in our ward brought us gallon containers of ice, an ice chest, glow sticks for the kids--a huge hit in the bath tub, a camp stove with fuel and some other things. They also put some of our things in their freezer. Then another family loaned us their generator so that we could run our fridge and computer/telephone. All in all it wasn't too bad an experience. (And we just got our electricity bill and it's the lowest it's ever been....) We had a neighborhood "clean out your fridge and freezer" party and got to meet lots of new neighbors. I kind of missed the simplicity of life once we got our computer and phone back on. Oh well.

So that was the catch up with the pictures we have uploaded from our camera. We've had other adventures since then, but they can wait. Only a few more weeks and then we'll post pictures of our newest little lady.
